Our History

A strong Foundation

Kel-Gor Limited was established in 1969 by Ron Gordon, starting its journey at 1411 Plank Road in Sarnia. Since then, Kel-Gor has experienced consistent growth and expansion year after year.

From its inception, Kel-Gor has been a unionized contractor, with 95% of its workforce consisting of unionized skilled trades workers. The team includes pipefitters, boilermakers, carpenters, insulators, and ironworkers, all contributing to the company’s success.

At Kel-Gor, all fabrication takes place on-site within our expansive 105,000-square-foot facilities. As of 2022, we employed over 1,700 individuals, and we anticipate surpassing 2,000 employees in the next five years.

A hallmark of Kel-Gor’s legacy is the dedication of its employees, with many having served for over three decades. We take pride in nurturing the next generation, exemplified by our current president, Tom Parkes, who began as an apprentice at the age of 16 and climbed the ranks to his current role. Similar stories of growth and progression can be found among our Vice Presidents.

In 2016, Matt Gordon, one of Ron’s five sons, joined Kel-Gor’s executive leadership team and now shares ownership of the business. Matt is actively involved in overseeing on-site operations and shaping the company’s strategic direction, including mergers and acquisitions.

Together with his brothers, Matt is committed to building on the foundation laid by their father, Ron Gordon, who continues to serve as an active Chairman of the Company
